Our Work
“Children are seeds to be nurtured”
the task
The demand for public school education facilities that must accommodate the growing number of children is at an all-time high especially in emerging economies. The socio-cultural challenges that make formal education prohibitive continue to impact school age children who attend shorter school days and remain without proper supervision between the hours of 2pm – 6pm. To preserve the future of our nation, Children are seeds to be nurtured with the necessary resources that would empower them to maximize their untapped talents in the work of sustainable development. The Task is simple; The Center for Community Development Senegal is committed to a collaborative partnership with all stakeholders to ensure sustainable education of young minds.
Mission Statement
The time change in the traditional school schedule, especially in high-risk neighborhoods was the impetus for after school care. Through a re-introduction of community partnership model, The Center for Community Development Senegal in collaboration with parents, educators and community leaders will develop and implement a supervised after school program with a focus on the following initiatives:
- After school tutoring.
- Health and Welfare Awareness Education (i.e., drug, tobacco & alcohol use and abuse; child exploitation, teenage pregnancy)
- Nutrition Enrichment Program (providing lunch and or snacks during recess time) .
- Sports and Recreation
- Establishment and maintenance of modern and well-equipped libraries
- Civic Education
